Famous Hollywood Film Jeeps

Hi, Jeepers! Today, we will discuss “The most Famous Hollywood Film Jeeps.” Owning a Jeep is like belonging in a big family, a big community, where your only tie to one another is a four-wheeled vehicle. This is evident in the way Jeep owners jovially honk at other Jeepers they see on the road. Or why did the tradition of Jeep ducking even start in the first place? There is just this great feeling of sharing the same love for great vehicles as strangers.

Other than on roads and parking lots, there is another great place to play ‘I Spy-Jeep Version’. In films! Below are movies where Jeeps not only made an appearance but enjoyed the spotlight.

Famous Hollywood Film Jeeps: Jurassic Park

Although the setting is in a “park”, this iconic film with giant carnivores and herbivores requires a lot of running and escaping on bare feet and on wheels. Jurassic Park lies on an island which is why it makes sense that powerful off-road vehicles are necessary.

There are only two cars in the film– the 1980s Toyota Land Cruiser J62 and the iconic red and beige 1992 Jeep Wrangler Sahara.

It became a big business to replicate the Wrangler from the movie. One even sold for $9,000. It was a 1995 Jeep Wrangler replica that already had 118,000 miles on it during the sale. You can easily copy the look on your Jeep with a set of decals you can buy online and some paint job.

Tomb Raider: Lara Croft and the Cradle of Life

What can you ask for in the movie? It’s a film based on a video game series, there is a Jeep, and then there is Angeline Jolie.

Although the first Tomb Raider film featured a Land Rover, the producers decided a Jeep was the perfect fit for Lara Croft’s character in the film because of their values of authenticity, adventure, and freedom.

Lara Croft’s power ride in the film is a Jeep Wrangler Rubicon that is specifically customized for the show. The designers added features they had never put on a Jeep Wrangler before the film. Croft’s Rubicon has 16-inch aluminum wheels, Mickey Thompson 35-inch Baja Claw tires, a diamond plate bumper guard, and Bushwacker riveted fender flares.

The fun doesn’t stop in live-action films, Jeeps are in animated movies, too. One of the most iconic Jeeps in animated movies is Sarge. Sarge is a 1942 WWII Willys Army Jeep. In the movie, he is a war veteran who fought in the Battle of the Bulge where he was awarded the “Grille Badge of True Mettle”.

If a Jeep getting an award in an animated movie is a thing, it is not an unusual thing to happen in real life. In fact, Old Faithful, a Willys jeep that was used by four Marine generals during World War II was awarded the Purple Heart for surviving two shrapnel “wounds” in its windshield during battle. Old Faithful retired from active service in 1943.

Jeep’s reputation crosses over fictional realms, and following the idea that art imitates life, it’s not surprising at all.
