2023 Jeep Gladiator: What’s new this year?

Today, we will discuss “2023 Jeep Gladiator: What’s new this year?” Why choose between utility and off-road capability when you can have both? Jeep has resolved the problem for those who may be torn between adventure and practicality when it comes to everyday use. Staring its introduction in 2018, the Jeep Gladiator has allowed car folks to enjoy the best of both worlds.

Jeep released the Jeep Gladiator at the 2018 Los Angeles Auto Show. This is the brand’s first pickup truck after it discontinued the production of the Comanche back in 1992. And then, there was a Gladiator Concept in late 2004. Fast forward to 2023, the Gladiator is better than ever with components and features you gotta love.

A nod to American heritage

All models of the 2023 Jeep Gladiator sold in the US will bear the American flag as a decal on their fender, a homage to the long history of the brand Jeep and its American roots. It’s a common practice for Jeep fans to show their American pride through a display of the American emblem on window stickers, license plates, and tire covers. No more need for that with the American flag decal already in place for units straight out of the factory.

9 trim levels

The Gladiator comes in 9 trim levels this year:

  • Sport
  • Willys Sport
  • Sport S
  • Freedom (Limited Edition)
  • Willys
  • Overland
  • Rubicon
  • Mojave
  • High Altitude

The Sport and Sport S (Manual) come in three packages with the Overland front bumper.  The Willys (2TW) comes with the standard technology package that includes Proximity Keyless Entry, Remote Start, a 7-inch TFT Screen, and Garage Door Opener. Meanwhile, Jeep only produced 2000 units of the Freedom Limited Edition.

Engine and transmission

There is no change in the engine for 2023; the Gladiator comes with the standard 3.6L Pentastar V6, but a 3.0L EcoDiesel V6 is an option. The Pentastar V6 delivers 285 horsepower and 260lb-ft. of torque. The Gladiator has a 6-speed manual transmission, one of the few midsize pickup trucks to have it in the market today. This is the standard on Sport, Sport S, Willys, Willys Sport, Rubicon, and Mojave.

Off-road prowess

An active lifestyle on the offbeat roads is easy for the Gladiator thanks to its front and rear five-link suspension system, solid axles, electronic lockers, and body-on-frame design. Plus, it proudly bears the TrailRated® badge which means it has been tested for traction, water fording, maneuverability, ground clearance, and articulation.

The best variant to get to make any track a child’s play is the Rubicon. The Rubicon packages of the Gladiator have powerful features Rock-Trac, a two-speed transfer case, and a low-range gear ratio of 4.0:1.  Even making the Rubicon more powerful are its 33-inch tires, a disconnecting front sway bar, and sturdy bumpers.

No plans t crawl over rock slabs? Give Mojave a try. It is the first Desert Rated Jeep which means it has passed rigorous tests for desert durability, ride control and stability, mobility and responsiveness, ground clearance, and traction.
